Replacing Cedar Shake Roofs

A common inquiry here at MRN is something along the lines of, "I've got to replace these old cedar shakes. Any ideas?"

You bet. These photos show a typical sequence of events when a worn-out shake roof is replaced with one of our coated steel batten tile roof systems. This particular metal roof system used our very energy efficient thermal liner insulation beneath the batten system. Why, you ask? Because doing so assures a minimum of heat transfer into the existing attic. The combination of the thermal liner and the very large, convective chamber beneath the visible roof panels means this assembly provides the utmost in energy efficiency.

The result? Well, the pictures speak for themselves.

The new roof is beautiful, earth-friendly and long-lasting - all of the things that make a metal roof desirable, and in this case, architecturally consistent with the Tudor style of this lovely California home.
